Bilateral Projects

As part of the TAIEX Program (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument), the European Union promotes the exchange of information and transfer of know-how between regulatory authorities from the EU and non-member countries. The aim of this program is to support the development of newly established rail regulatory authorities and to align their regulatory standards with those of the EU, thereby preparing them for potential EU membership. However, participation in this program is not contingent upon candidate status.

Schienen-Control actively contributes to this initiative and primarily supports Southeast European countries during their development and planning phases. Through multi-day project meetings, Schienen-Control has made significant contributions to the establishment and development of regulatory authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
